The Camcorder Any Sea-Lover Needs

Sanyo Xacti 5/31/07

In its’ original form, the Sanyo Xacti DMX-CG65 is a miniture camcorder approximately the size of a deck of cards. Now the question is, exactly how much can you fit into a deck of cards? Well Sanyo answered that question by fitting up to 8GB of memory, a combination digital camera and camcorder, a fairly decent sized video screen, a microphone, and all the controls you would ever need. Not bad eh?

Well here are more specific specs about the camcorder. This little guy will give you about 6.0 Megapixels, 2.5-inch screen, 5x inner optical zoom and up to 12x digital zoom. Obviously the most important factor, next to picture and video quality, would be battery life. The battery on the Xacti will last approximately 155 pictures or 70 minutes of video; the battery life is extended in playback mode to roughly 200 minutes. So you have a super small, super light, quality camcorder. What else do you need? Well what if that camcorder was waterproof?

In its’ second form, the Sanyo DMX-CA65 has done just that. This does not mean you can strap-on your scuba gear and go diving with it. However, it does mean that you can take this baby up to 1.5 meters deep in water and actually expect to take quality video and pictures.

I don’t know about you, but this makes me feel more comfortable taking this baby out on the boat, to the pool, or on the beach.

DXG Releases Cheap Camera

DXG Camera 5/31/07

DXG has just brought to the market their new DXG-711 digital camera. The camera features a 2.5-inch display, so you can actually see what you are taking a picture of, and a great 7.1 Megapixel image. On top of the cosmetics of the camera, its’ innards contain 32MB of memory, 3x optical zoom, and a built voice recorder.

Basically, this would be your normal run of the mill type camera. The component that actually sets this apart from its’ competition, is not the technology but rather the price. For just under $150, this nice little camera can be yours. When pondering about this little camera, I have come to realize that for what you are getting this is a fantastic price.

Sony Releases New Camcorder in Japan

Sony HDR 5/29/07

Dubbed the Sony HDR-SR, the new Sony camcorder is fully HD compatible. The camcorder comes with 1080i recording capacity and 100GB of memory for storing up to 38 hours of HD video. The lens is a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T with up top 10x zoom capability. If you are one of the many with a shaky hand, you need not worry as the HDR comes with Steady Supershot optical image stabilization. This will definitely help whether you are taking a video or taking a picture with the 6.1 Megapixel built in camera.

This seems to be a pretty good camera for the avid film taker. Easy to use menu and One Touch Burning makes this a very user friendly camcorder.

The Nikon 360 Degrees Camera

Nikon 360

What in the world is this thing above us? Well, it is a Nikon 360 degree concept phone that the company claims could revolutionize the way we take pictures.

Designed specifically for the panoramic artist in all of us, the camera takes a 360 degree panoramic view of the surrounding area while an angle indicator tells you the direction of the head so you can tell people when to smile.

All in all, the design is interesting, but is there really room in the crowded market for a panoramic camera? Sure it would be nice to do it once and not move my camera slightly with about 50 pictures, but how useful would it be for normal use? I don’t know about you, but I don’t take panoramic views well, ever.

Oh well, maybe there will be some people who find use of it.
